Event Details

This professional barista training workshop led by Andrew Hetzel of Hawaii-based coffee firm Cafemakers will provide instruction in a variety of areas designed to improve espresso and other specialty coffee beverage preparation skills.

The Introduction to Espresso workshop is an novice level class intended for coffee industry, hosipitality and foodservice personnel who wish to learn the fundamentals of espresso beverage preparation under the guidance of experienced instructors.

Tasting exercises will equip participants with the ability to articulate coffee taste profiles and identify potential faults.

Topics Will Include

  • Barista basics and orientation
  • Tasting exercises and coffee "cupping"
  • Equipment orientation and use
  • Hands-on step-by-step espresso extraction
  • Basic milk frothing, steaming
  • Equipment care and cleaning
